We at London Window Blinds get many enquiries for Blackout blinds especially during the summer months in the bedroom areas’. We do many styles at different price levels for our Clients as a London based fitted blinds company.
Blackout blinds usually can be pulled up or down by rolling and have the ability to darken a room further than typical blinds. Slat blinds still allow sunlight to seep in between the slats. Blackout blinds may be appropriate in certain rooms where a homeowner would prefer the room to be darker than usual, such as bedrooms. There are tips to help you find the best blackout blinds for your home.
It is almost impossible to achieve 100% light exclusion with a blind that can be opened. This excludes the use of working blackout blinds in such situations as photographic dark rooms where high speed emulsions are exposed. Blackout blinds have totally opaque fabric and are fully enclosed in casing.
"Dim-out" or "dark blinds" give a substantial reduction in light level but still allowing a certain amount to penetrate. They may be plain roller blinds or may make use of casing or masking. The level of dim-out is best specified by reference to the use required of the blind.
Choose cellular blackout blinds for any bedroom. These blinds have a continuous sheet of pleated fabric and have the ability to cover all areas of the window, so light does not peek in. These blinds are generally more expensive than other types of blackout blind. . Cellular blackout shades can help you save money on your electric bill because they do such a good job of keeping light out and heat in. They also have an SPC, Solar Protective Coating on the rear for this purpose. Cellular blinds also have the advantage – unlike Pleated blinds – in that they do not have pinholes that run through them that the cords run through. Hence they offer superior blackout but are also more expensive than the former.
We also offer made to measure blackout skylight blinds for our London Clients. Whether it be a child’s bedroom or somewhere in the home where light through a skylight is not wanted ! such as a cinema room perhaps. For those out of reach Skylight windows we offer a wand that simply hooks into a tab so the blind can be pulled back & forth. Again the common blind styles are pleated & cellular. For those clients with ‘branded’ skylights such as Velux, we offer genuine Velux blinds which are extremely well made and effective at light exclusion.
We also offer, for those Clients that want a soft luxury look and still want blackout - Fitted Roman blinds, these have a special thick lining that does a very effective job and operate by a modern sidewinder chain be it white, chrome or brass for example. We have many luxury fabric styles available from the UK and Europe’s leading designers. Roman blinds also offer the advantage of superior thermal efficiency too - as many studies have shown.
